(Update!! 10/27/17

I now edit all of my photos that aren’t done by a hired photographer through lightroom! I use custom presets to achieve that dark moody look! However everything posted below is accurate and if you don’t want to invest in presets or LR then this is a great system and worked for me for a long time!)

One of the main questions I get asked all of the time is.. "your photos are so pretty! How do you edit them!?" So I thought why not share some tips and tricks with you on editing your photos all on your phone!! I also have a photography account (awphotographyinc) so sometimes I'll edit through Adobe lightroom and photoshop, however, I love me some vsco cam so I tend to put them through that app as well. I recommend investing in a DSLR camera, I think if you are going to start a blog or you have a blog but want it to get noticed you shouldn't be taking photos on your phone. You can get a base model canon rebel for under $300 and that should work perfectly!

Favorite apps

VSCO cam

I never use Instagram filters anymore, they tend to be too much and just not very flattering. My go to app for filters would be VSCO Cam! I will also post some formulas down below how to get the look you are going for.

Snapseed

I use this when I do a flat lay photo and I need to brighten certain spots or areas.

Adobe Lightroom mobile

I have adobe lightroom on my computer so this makes things so nice when I upload to adobe and I am working on a project its easy for me to go into lightroom save the photo to my phone and throw a VSCO cam filter on it.

Facetune

Now before you judge me I think you should use everything in moderation. This tool can be very dangerous for those that like to edit your self to the point where you look like a completely different person. I like to use this for spot treatments or for tones the most. If there is a weird stain on the wall behind me its easy for me to spot tone it out!

*Here are some of my favorite formulations for VSCO cam

My favorite time of year is rapidly approaching and I could not be more excited. Do I love summer time, going to the pool, and vacations? Of course! But do I love 70' degree weather, football season, and sweaters... umm YES! I am pretty much over sweating my booty off every time I walk out the door. Like I could be having the best hair day, then I walk outside and the humidity makes me look a mess again and I'm over that. I'm ready for leggings, sweaters, scarves, and pumpkin spice lattes. I figured I would share a couple techniques on how I start to slowly transition my wardrobe from Summer to fall! Especially since you can get most of these items at a great discount with the Nordstrom sale going on now until August 6th!

1. Peep toe booties

I love a good bootie especially paired with a dress and jean jacket! It's seriously the best transition piece!

2. Light sweaters

Like shown above a great transitional piece would be a light weight sweater! I love to pair them with shorts and booties.

3. Fall Bags

I have been eyeing a leopard print clutch for a hot second so you better believe I snatched that puppy up!

4. Jackets

It's normally to Hot in Oklahoma for Jackets like this in the fall but I don't mind letting it sit until its cold enough to wear here! Even though that will probably be in December....

5. Hats

Some of my goals starting out this year were 1. Start a blog, 2. Travel more, 3. Create a successful side business, 4.Stick to a diet, and  5. Be more productive with my time. I think to achieve the majority of my goals time management is my focal point. I spent most of last year working, sleeping and planning a wedding and just repeating that daily. This year I'm not planning a wedding so I have a lot of extra time on my hands! My husband works 6/7 days a week and long hours so I have a lot of free time to sit around and do nothing or to be productive with my life. I realized at the beginning of this year I didn't want to waste this year of my life. We don't have kids yet and my husband puts in long hours to provide for us so why shouldn't I put in equal time. I knew I didn't want to do anything I considered work and I wanted it to be something I could do whenever forever. So I decided to start blogging and doing photography! So most days after work I am either blogging, taking pics for my blog, or taking pictures for couples/families. I feel I have a purpose and I feel excited for each week to come. I do have to catch myself sometimes and put down my phone, computer, and camera to relax and spend time with my husband when he's home. I love what I do but I know stephen deserves my attention for the few hours he does get to spend at home so I try to give that to him. How do you spend your extra time? Do you have any goals this year? Let me know down in the comments!
